The Irrepressibles sono un collettivo pop fondato e diretto dal compositore e musicista Jemie McDermott. Il gruppo ha pubblicato due album fino ad oggi, "Mirror Mirror" e "Nude". Tutte le canzoni sono scritte da Jamie, che le definisce come autobiografiche. Il nome The Irrepressibles è stato scelto per "rompere i confini nella musica ed essere dei gay onesti nel mondo della musica". Inizialmente il gruppo ebbe sede a Londra, ma attualmente la band è a Berlino. Jamie ha cambiato il suo nome da 'Jamie McDermott' a 'Jamie irrefrenabile' nel 2013, per la sua collaborazione con il norvegese duo elettronico dei Röyksopp.
Io li ho scoperti soltanto qualche mese fa, grazie a Spotify. Ed è stato subito amore, hanno la grande forza di creare brani ricercati ma emozionanti, in un perfetto equilibrio tra il classicismo e musica elettronica. Il sound ha evidenti influenze con la musica inquietante e mistica di Vangelis, ma ciò che rende speciale il loro lavoro è la voce calda di Jamie colpisce dritto al cuore. I videoclip dei singoli estratti da"Nude", sono tutti diretti da lui e raccontano in modo molto crudo e intimista il tema dell'omosessualità. Uno dei miei brani preferiti è "New World", il videoclip ha accenni autobiografici perchè parla dell'omofobia subita da Jamie durante l'adolescenza (pestaggio, tentato suicidio e salvezza), il brano diventa una sorta di parabola moderna sulla fede nell'amore e sull'identità "gay".
